Webinar: Designing with Grades (1.5 CEUs)
Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 11am – 1pm PDT (that is 2pm – 4pm EDT)

Join our first-ever webinar! This 2-hour virtual lecture will teach you about understanding topography and how to calculate and design with grades. Accurately designing for topography changes will make bids on your projects more accurate and installation of your designs go smoother. Presenter and APLDWA member Kryssie Maybay of Kismet Design LLC will be covering the basics of reading topography, calculating slopes, wall heights and stairs. She will provide multiple examples for exploring tricky calculations and problem solving with grades, ranging in difficulty.

Live webinar participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session of the webinar.

Kryssie is a Licensed Landscape Architect and the owner of Kismet Design LLC. She has a bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University and experience in both design-only and design-build firms, with 15 years of design experience. Kryssie has been a licensed landscape architect for almost ten years.

5th Annual Summer APLDWA/WALP/WSNLA BBQ
Laura Wildfong and NW Nurseries will again host this fun event. Of course, there will be good food and great company, and this is a great opportunity to socialize and network with other members in the landscaping industry. Bring lots of business cards, as you never know whom you might meet. Bring a colleague, student or friend!

Mini Symposium: The Ins and Outs of Designing a Deck - What a Designer Should Know
Decks are complex structures with many elements to be determined and designed. Find out the common thresholds for when a deck needs to be permitted, and when a structural engineer is required.
